1. Murder Mystery
Have you ever heard of Cluedo? It’s probably one of the most enjoyable murder mystery board games available. You could mix it up and get your colleagues or friends to dress up all of the characters from Cluedo. Throughout the hour, you could solve a fun murder mystery. This is an excellent escapism activity.
2. Virtual Team Pursuit
Get a list of everyone joining your virtual evening of fun and split them into 2-3 teams. The aim of this would be to organize a bunch of small activities, and the winning team of each activity gains points. The team with the most points wins! Again, this is an effective way to bring about team spirit.
3. Happy Hour Trivia
Trivial pursuit is another really fun activity that you could organize virtually. Testing one another’s general knowledge is a great way to bond and find out new facts.
4. Music Trivia
Any music fans out there that you know of? You could narrow down a trivia hour even more that’s music themed. You could go back to 80s hits! Why not get everyone who joins to dress up?
Music can join anyone from different walks of life. There is something communal and uniting that takes place when we listen to music as a group.
5. Virtual Mixology
Whether it’s cocktails or mocktails, mixology is a really fun way to bond with friends or colleagues. There are numerous cocktail/mocktail recipes on the internet. You could print out a professional cocktail/mocktail menu and send them through to everyone planning to join the virtual mixology event. You could even get everyone to make up their own recipe towards the end for people to try out.
6. Quiz Night
If general knowledge is more something that your employees or friends would enjoy, you could host a virtual quiz night. Of course, there should be prizes and incentives. This is an effective way to motivate people to join in. You could even take a vote a few days before the event to ask those joining which type of quiz themes they would be interested in.
7. Scattegories
If you’re unaware of what this game is, you should learn! Scattegories entail finding everything and anything to do with a specific word. So, for example, if the word of choice is cheese, get the teams to list as many different types of cheese available. It is a fun game that still requires you to use your noggin.
8. Virtual Dance Lesson
Now, this may not be for everyone, but I am sure that you will find someone in your organization or friend group that will enjoy doing this with you. Dancing is a great form of exercise and is sure to liven up those endorphins. You could book a 30-45 min Zumba, Latin, or Street Dance class and get your people to access this.
9. Virtual Escape Room
Virtual escape rooms are the next thing since sliced bread. Packed with clues and puzzles, you will have your employees or friends having fun in no time. This will require teamwork and thinking, and the team who escapes first can enjoy a lovely prize!
10. Poetry Reading
Now, this may be for a more creative bunch. Poetry has always been a part of society-even before civilization itself. If you have a group of employees or friends who have a genuine appreciation for poetry, you could host a poetry reading night where everyone gets to read their own poems or poems that inspire them.
11. Charades
Charades. Enough said! Host a happy charades hour where you are sure to bring out the best in everyone involved. Laughs and bonding are guaranteed with this game.
12. Virtual Poker
There are many websites out there that host virtual poker games. This is another fun and creative way to keep everyone busy.
13. Lip Reading
This may prove difficult over zoom, but that is expected and part of the fun! Get into groups and lip-read to other groups. Every group that guesses right gets a point.
14. Virtual Talent Show
If your colleagues or friends aren’t worried about being a little silly, you could host a talent show. Try and keep it PG-especially if it’s a work function.
15. Digital Card Games
If games are more popular within your group of people, online or digital card games may be the way to go.
16. Coffee Breaks
You could simply have a coffee break for an hour with your colleagues or friends. This is especially beneficial for groups of people who work together but have to do so remotely. A simple catch-up may just do the trick.
17. Personality Quizzes
Are you needing to get to know one another better? A personality quiz may be the best way to do this, especially if it is a team-building event. There are many different personality quizzes out there; try and make sure it’s legit, though.
18. Guided Meditation
If you are wanting to focus on employee wellbeing, a guided meditation is the perfect way to do this. I would suggest getting consent from everyone attending, though, as some people may not feel comfortable with this.
19. Book Club
If reading is your thing, get everyone to join a virtual book club. You could all take turns to read or even just discuss the book together. This, along with a lovely hot drink, fits perfectly.
20. Wine and Dine
Get your team or friends to cook dinner before joining the virtual events and enjoy a nice dinner together. Tell everyone to bring their favorite drink along and spend the night catching up.
Hosting a virtual event has never been this easy!
